Tuesday 106: The Week
Best thing I read this week: Seymour Hersh’s bombshell report that US Navy divers blew up the Nord Stream pipeline. Hersh broke the story of the My Lai massacre and cover-up, Abu Ghraib, and a bunch of stuff in between. It’s a gripping, necessarily lengthy report, full of unnerving details.
Best thing I listened to this week: True Anon’s three-part podcast mini-series (released in 2021), “The Lamest Show on Earth,” an in-depth look at Elon Musk, Tesla, and a hilarious fixation with the letter “X.” I’m not typically someone who has much time for a guy like Musk, but the understanding of him as a modern-day carnival barker is enlightening beyond just the person; hosts Liz Frankzac and and Brace Belden discuss with poignancy the character of California and psychic space at the end of the American frontier.
Best thing I watched this week: For what was an exciting game on paper—Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes both had unbelievable performances and the thing came down to the final drive—the Super Bowl was kind of boring. I liked the halftime show though! Rihanna’s a hit machine and she hasn’t done anything in like a decade.
Best thing I ate this week: Three words, baby: Bake. Your. Feta.
